Dr. Eric Chang is a Yale and Columbia educated plastic surgeon who was trained at Stanford. He is affiliated with both Howard County General Hospital in Columbia and Baltimore Washington Medical Center in Glen Burnie. My Philosophy
First and foremost, I believe in patient safety. I also believe that most plastic surgeons are artists, perhaps even possessing some talent with a paintbrush or in molding clay or in composing a photograph. Personally, I fell in love with watercolor painting in high school, but found myself reaching the limits of my talent. Ultimately, I realized that I had a natural aptitude in the sciences, and that my future lay in medicine.
When I entered medical school, becoming a plastic surgeon was the furthest thing from my mind. Plastic surgeons are frivolous, superficial people who live in Hollywood and operate on movie stars, I thought. It was only when I discovered how challenging and creative plastic surgery was, that I realized I wanted to explore the field further.
What I discovered was an amazing specialty of medicine, which treated the outer being, to ultimately bring healing to the inner being as well. It was a natural fit for me, where my artistic sensibilities and my medical talents met and complemented one another. I had found my calling, and have been striving toward excellence ever since.
No plastic surgeon should claim to be the "world's best." I don't.
