You Can Achieve The Shape You Want To See
CoolSculpting®
If you’re interested in body contouring, it’s important to look at all the options and choose the sculpting solution that’s right for you. If you want dramatic results, liposuction or a tummy tuck may be the best approach. Sometimes, however, a subtle change is all that’s needed. That’s why we offer CoolSculpting at Columbia Aesthetic Plastic Surgery for Baltimore-area residents. CoolSculpting is an innovative, non-invasive treatment that destroys fat cells in targeted areas. No anesthetic is needed, and you can return to work or your normal activities immediately after the procedure.
Dr. Eric Chang customizes his approach depending on the needs of his body contouring patients, who travel from throughout the Baltimore-Washington corridor to benefit from his skill and experience. Save $50 on your consultation (regularly $100) when you contact us using our online form, or give us a call at (410) 740-9330 to schedule an appointment.

CoolSculpting vs. Liposuction: Which Is for You?
Dr. Chang can help you choose the body contouring procedure that best suits your goals. Many of the women and men who schedule CoolSculpting consultations will benefit more from liposuction because they want to address larger areas of the body or want more dramatic results. CoolSculpting targets specific areas of fat that remain despite regular exercise and dieting, such as on the flanks, hips, abdomen, or back. CoolSculpting is an FDA–cleared treatment that reduces fat in selected areas using controlled cooling technology.
A healthy diet and fitness plan are great, but they can only do so much. Your genes, weight fluctuations, and life changes such as pregnancy all influence your fat cells. If you want to reduce the appearance of love handles or other trouble spots around your midsection, CoolSculpting may be the optimal solution.

MEET DR. CHANG

Your CoolSculpting at Columbia Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
During your consultation, Dr. Chang will evaluate your body and discuss your goals to determine which areas to target during your CoolSculpting procedure. In contrast to liposuction or a tummy tuck in Baltimore, CoolSculpting requires no anesthesia or incisions. You can relax and read a book or listen to music during your treatment.
Using a specially designed device that draws up the targeted fat tissue between 2 cooling panels, CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells through a process called Cryolipolysis™. Most patients experience little or no discomfort during the treatment, which typically takes one hour per region targeted.
No recovery or downtime is typically needed; patients are free to head to the gym right after a CoolSculpting procedure. You may experience mild swelling or soreness after your treatment, but it usually is gone within a few days.
During the weeks that follow treatment, the body gradually flushes away the damaged fat cells through its natural metabolic processes. While experiences vary, results typically become noticeable after about a month as bulges look smoother and slimmer. In about 3 to 4 months, the full benefits are usually reached.
To maintain your slimmer contours, it’s important to continue with a sensible diet and exercise program.
What Is the Cost of CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting® FAQs
How much does CoolSculpting cost?
The cost of CoolSculpting varies based on the specific plastic surgeon you choose and the size and number of target areas that you’d like to treat. According to the official CoolSculpting website, the average personalized treatment plan costs between $2,000 and $4,000.
How do I find the best CoolSculpting provider near me?
Although CoolSculpting is a non-surgical treatment, it still needs to be performed by a trained and experienced provider. Start with online research to find a provider who works in a reputable plastic surgeon’s office and has ample experience in this treatment area. You should be able to see before and after CoolSculpting photos from this provider to help you get a better idea of the quality of results you can expect.
Is CoolSculpting the best body contouring solution for me?
The ideal candidate for CoolSculpting will already be at or close to their target weight, as CoolSculpting is not a method of weight loss. While this treatment can effectively remove stubborn fat from areas like your hips, waist, thighs and upper arms, it cannot address loose or excess skin. If this is a concern, you might consider a tummy tuck with liposuction instead.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
Most people are comfortable during their CoolSculpting treatment. However, you may experience sensations like pulling, tugging, tingling or cramping until the area is numb.
In the first few days after your CoolSculpting appointment, you may notice some redness, tenderness, bruising and/or swelling in the treated area. These side effects are typically mild and should gradually subside on their own.
How many CoolSculpting treatments will I need?
Many people require only one CoolSculpting session per treatment area. However, in some cases, a second or third treatment may be necessary to achieve the desired results. Dr. Chang and his team will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan during your consultation, to help you get a better idea of how many sessions may be necessary.
What’s the recovery like after CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting doesn’t require any formal downtime, so you should be able to get back to your normal daily routine immediately after your appointment. That said, you may feel some tenderness, bruising and swelling for the first few days afterward, so some people choose to take it easy for a day or so directly after their appointment.
When will I see my final results?
You can begin seeing your results in as little as three weeks after your CoolSculpting session is completed, with full results developing over the course of about 4 to 6 months.
Are CoolSculpting results permanent?
Once fat cells are removed through CoolSculpting, they are gone for good. However, CoolSculpting results are not necessarily permanent, in the sense that you can still gain new fat in the treated areas. So, it is crucial that you maintain healthy eating and exercise habits long after your CoolSculpting treatments are complete to continue enjoying your results in the long term.
