Why Choose Breast Lift Surgery?
A breast lift can result in firmer, more youthful looking breasts, whether sagging is the result of:
- Time
- Gravity
- Childbearing
- Nursing
- Massive weight loss or bariatric surgery
- Loss of skin’s natural elasticity
- Combination of the above
And in elevating the breasts and improving their shape, a breast lift at Columbia Aesthetic Plastic Surgery can, like that decadent piece of rich chocolate cake, do wonders in lifting your spirits.
Sedation Anesthesia Benefits
Did you know you can have breast lift surgery under sedation anesthesia and avoid the grogginess and risks that can accompany general anesthesia? Recover faster, increase comfort, and feel more assured with sedation anesthesia at our practice.
Your Breast Lift
Our goal is to provide patients with a friendly, relaxing, refined environment, as well as a fulfilling experience. At your consultation, you will be given all the time you need to have all of your questions about a breast lift answered, as well as any concerns about the popular procedure addressed.
After your surgeon learns about you and your goals, they will describe in plain language the 1 to 2 hour outpatient procedure, also known as “mastopexy.” For instance, you may learn more about what’s known as a short-scar or “vertical” breast lift, which can reduce healing times and can lead to breasts that are fuller and remain firmer longer than a traditional, “anchor” pattern breast lift.
Although the short-scar, or “vertical” breast lift has been popular in Europe for over 2 decades, the technique has gained popularity in America only during the past few years. Our surgeons perform vertical breast lifts almost exclusively, and believe that a short scar breast lift has several advantages, including:
- Reduced operating times
- Less scarring
- Increase in blood supply to the skin, resulting in fewer problems with wound healing
- Fuller, more youthful looking breast shape
- Breast shape that lasts longer with less bottoming out of the breast over time
At your breast lift consultation, your surgeon will evaluate whether this technique is the best for your particular circumstance, and also discuss the potential risks and complications of a breast lift. Our surgeons often combine breast augmentation (enlargement) with a breast lift. In many cases, augmentation will be recommended because, while a lift elevates the breasts while improving both tone and shape, the procedure does not result in larger breasts. Adding breast implants to some women’s breast lift procedures can restore lost volume to the breasts. This can create an attractive amount of cleavage for women who may not achieve fuller breasts with a lift alone.

Breast Lift FAQ
How much does a breast lift cost?
As with virtually all cosmetic surgeries, a number of factors can influence the total price. In addition to the cost of the surgery itself, other items such as anesthesia, facility fees and recovery garments can add to the price. We discuss the cost of a breast lift in detail with each patient and provide a price quote.

How do I find the best plastic surgeon for a breast lift near me?
Start with online research, looking for qualifications like board certification with the American Board of Plastic Surgery, affiliations with medical associations, hospital privileges and client reviews. Using this information, narrow down the possibilities to your top two or three picks. Then, schedule consultations with each of them to get a feel for how they work and how they view your procedure. Discuss your motivations and expectations and look at their before and after photos of breast lifts that they have completed in the past. Once you have spoken with all of them, select the one who makes you feel comfortable, aligns with your goals and is the most qualified to help you.

How much pain will I experience after a breast lift?
Because everyone experiences pain in different ways, we cannot specify how much you will feel after a breast lift. Keep in mind that, like all surgical procedures, breast lifts do come with a recovery period and some discomfort and tenderness as your body heals. You may also experience swelling, bruising, tingling, numbness or other similar sensations. Many people report that the majority of these side effects resolve within several weeks and are easily managed with the proper prescription or over-the-counter medications.

What is breast lift recovery like?
Recovery from a breast lift is similar to recovery from other cosmetic surgeries in that you need to rest and take it easy. We ask that you fully rest for at least two days after your breast enhancement procedure. Once those days have passed, light movement is okay, as long as you take it easy. Plan to take at least a week off from work, and avoid strenuous physical activity for 2 to 3 weeks. After around 6 weeks, you should be fully healed and back to your usual activities.

Are there risks associated with breast lifts?
Breast lifts are generally safe procedures, but that does not mean that they are without risks or potential complications. As with any surgery, there is a chance you could develop an infection, have an allergic reaction or experience excess bleeding. Watch for signs of problems and seek medical attention at the first negative symptom. Don’t hesitate to contact our office if you have any questions or concerns at all at any stage of the recovery process following your breast lift.
