Protruding ears can cause embarrassment for children and adults. Although this condition is common, many people do not realize that there is a surgical solution. This 22-year-old woman didn’t like the way her ears stuck out and began researching ways to improve her appearance. She came across Dr. Chang’s website and read about a type of plastic surgery in Columbia called “ear pinning” or otoplasty. She wanted more information, so she scheduled a consultation to meet with Dr. Chang.
She came prepared with several questions to ask Dr. Chang, all of which he was able to answer in great detail. She wondered what happened during the procedure, how much downtime was needed and how she would look afterward. Dr. Chang explained that the surgery was not extensive and could be performed under either general or local anesthetic. He said he would shape the ear into a more appealing form and then pin the cartilage in place for long-lasting results. The recovery time would be about 7 to 10 days, and she would need to wear a head bandage for 3 to 5 days. She decided that the benefits of surgery were well worth the minimal recovery time and chose to go ahead with the surgery.
As her “after” photos show, her operation was successful and her ears are now in a much more natural position. She loves her new look and is glad she chose Dr. Chang as her plastic surgeon in Columbia.
