Female to Male Top Surgery
Achieve the Look
That Best Fits Your Body
All plastic surgery procedures by their nature will change the way the body looks. But for top surgery, the change can be far more transformative, helping our patients achieve a major step on the journey to the upper body appearance that best fits with how they see themselves. Our surgeons and staff are honored to serve people considering top surgery, and we will work closely with you to explain all the ins and outs so you can make an informed decision.
Save $50 on your consultation (regularly $150), or call us at (410) 740-9330. Please note, this discount cannot be applied to procedures covered by insurance, only applies to cosmetic consults, and is valid for new patients only. For existing patients, please contact us online or call the office for an appointment.
The Benefits of Top Surgery
After top surgery, our patients are able to feel more comfortable in their own skin. This surgery aligns the vision you have for how you want to appear to the rest of the world with your actual upper body shape. We are honored to support people who are on this journey and love seeing the increase in confidence and happiness that can be achieved through surgery.

Your Top Surgery Procedure
Top surgery for trans men requires more than simply removing all existing breast tissue via mastectomy. The goal of the surgery is to recontour the chest and create a more masculine appearance. Our surgeons will carefully plan out your procedure based on your existing anatomy and the look you are hoping to achieve.
For patients with smaller existing breasts, a periareolar technique may be used to remove tissue and achieve recontouring through incisions around the areola. Patients with larger breasts will generally need a bilateral mastectomy with a free nipple graft, as well as liposuction in the chest area to achieve the desired chest/pectoral shape. Your surgeon can explain more about the best technique for your case during your consultation.

Recovery after Top Surgery
We perform top surgery at our Quad A certified outpatient surgery suite. This private, state-of-the-art facility is designed with patient comfort and safety at the forefront. Right after your surgery, you will be moved to a private recovery area where we can monitor your vitals as the effects of anesthesia wear off. You will be prescribed pain medication and antibiotics and scheduled for a follow up appointment before you are released to head home and continue your recovery. If you have any questions about your full recovery instructions, please reach out to us.
After surgery, your chest area may be bruised, swollen, and sore for a week or two. Straining, heavy lifting, and rigorous exercise all need to be avoided to ensure proper healing of the surgical area and incisions, though light walking starting the day after surgery is important to ensure good blood flow. Please follow all of your doctor’s orders to ensure you get the best possible result with minimal risk of complications.
Most of the post-surgical swelling in the chest area should be gone by 4 to 6 weeks after surgery, and you should see your final chest shape about 3 months after surgery.
Top Surgery FAQs
What will my consultation be like?
Before your visit, you will be asked to complete our new patient questionnaire so that your doctor has your full health history. The consultation visit is an opportunity to discuss your concerns and goals, and for your doctor to assess your initial anatomy so that a surgical plan can be developed. We pride ourselves in being a welcoming and open environment, and will never pressure you to make any decisions on the day of your consultation. If you’d like to move forward with surgery, we can schedule at your convenience.

What are the costs involved?
Every top surgery procedure we perform is custom designed. The cost will include the surgeon’s fee along with facility fees, the costs of medications, and other costs that we will detail out following your consultation visit. Costs can be dramatically reduced if you have insurance coverage that covers the surgery.

Can I have other procedures performed during my top surgery?
In many cases, other body contouring procedures can be included while your surgeon performs top surgery. For instance, you may want to have liposuction in areas such as the abdomen, hips or thighs to reduce fat tissue. Our surgeons can also perform many other facial sculpting procedures. It’s worthwhile to talk with us about all of your cosmetic concerns at your consultation so we can develop a plan to help you look the way you want.
