A 71-year-old woman diagnosed with upper lip skin cancer underwent Mohs excision, resulting in a large defect of the left upper lip. The upper lip was reconstructed by using skin from the lower lip. This required a two-stage approach where the lips were tethered together for 3 weeks followed by division.
Surgeon: Jessica Wang, MD
Procedure: 2 stage lip reconstruction with Abbe flap (stages performed 3 weeks apart)
Anesthesia: Twilight sedation
Duration: 1.5 hours
Result: 5 months after surgery
